How Braces Can Correct the Alignment of Your Teeth

Posted .

Uncorrected alignment issues can leave you with an unappealing smile and an increased risk of dental complications. When your upper and lower jaws meet at an unhealthy angle or your teeth are crowded or spaced too far apart, you can suffer from dental attrition and even dental fractures. To correct this problem and prevent future issues, Dr. Wendy Chen can provide you with braces.

The style of braces your orthodontist recommends will be based on the severity of your alignment issues, as well as your personal preference. Traditional braces use brackets which are cemented to the faces of your teeth. These are connected by a strong metal wire and will include bands and spacers.

If you are uncomfortable with the look of braces, Dr. Wendy Chen can apply a ceramic glaze to your teeth. These can be shaded to match your teeth and will appear more discrete.

You may also choose to get a set of clear aligners like Invisalign®. These are custom shaped to match your teeth. Every two weeks you will switch to another set of aligners. Each one will be tuned one step closer to your ideal orthodontic alignment.

If you are in the Colleyville, Texas, area and have misaligned teeth, you can call 817-581-4031 to book a consultation at Wendy Chen Orthodontics.
